How did Enchanted Genie come about?

I have always been quite creative and often sketch out little designs and ideas to create unique personalised gifts for friends and family. When I realised that other people were loving the products I designed and handcrafted, I thought it might be nice to offer those to everyone else :) The name actually comes from my nickname (Genie, instead of Gina for some unknown reason - its just stuck!) I like to think the products I design are quite enchanting and ta-da! Enchanted Genie was born.

What inspires your ideas?

I've always been one to want to be a little different from everyone else. I never want to design or create a product which is so similar to all the others out there. I think creating a product which is so unique and different offers my customers something that little bit more personal that they can treasure. I love hearing custom requests from customers and I am constantly sat down with my notepad and pencil sketching new ideas (most ideas come to me in the middle of the night when I'm half asleep believe it or not!)

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

The people I get to meet! I absolutely love receiving a message from a customer who has received their product and fallen in love. I have created many products for weddings, children's birthdays and other special occasions and I love that I can be part of that.

Is running a small business easy?

I wouldn't say easy especially as this is a one woman show! From the designing of the products, handcrafting from scratch (all that sanding and painting!) packaging, posting, marketing, social media, customer service - it is alot to deal with but I love every minute of it. As most small business owners will tell you, you work long hours and put all your energy and effort into your business but its all worthwhile in the end.

Plans for the future?

Who knows? As long as I am designing and creating unique personalised products for you lovely lot - I will be one happy girlie.
